Company History & Philosophy

Baselayer is the new range of high performance sports underwear from Canterbury of New Zealand. Canterbury of New Zealand was formed in 1904 in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's south island and has made a name in producing a broad range of high quality clothing and accessories for the rugby market and is now recognised as the number one rugby apparel brand in the world.

Canterbury's Baselayer range was developed initially to meet the growing demands of the rugby world for a base layer product to keep players performing at their highest levels in a broad range of climates. The result of extensive development being Armourfit which has been proved at the highest level in the ultimate gladiatorial arena: The Rugby Pitch. From launch the Armourfit has been warmly received and sportsmen and women around the world very quickly came to appreciate the benefits of performance base layers, resulting in Armourfit no longer being limited to the rugby world and now is worn by athletes competing in a large selection of sports.

Product Range & Technical Information

The CCC Baselayer range incorporates two separate fabrics, each of which has been designed for a specific body temperature control range. The garments are designed to be worn close to the skin to maximise their moisture wicking performance. The compression fit required to achieve closeness to the skin has been designed not to inhibit any freedom of movement but has an added benefit of reducing energy-sapping muscle oscillations leading to energy efficiency and faster recovery times. Armourfit products have a specially designed moisture transport system that wicks moisture away from your body and into the air.

CCC Baselayer HOT - Keeps you cool in even the hottest conditions!

The CCC Baselayer HOT range is designed for warmer conditions where your body is likely to overheat resulting in sweating. The fabric woven from a 85% polyester and 15% elastane mix and weighing 190gsm (grams per square metre) actively pulls sweat away from your body and spreads it over a larger area of the garments surface where the cooling effect of your sweats evaporation can be maximised, therefore keeping you cool and dry. An additional quick-dry and AB100 anti-bacterial finish means the garments dry in minutes and will minimise nasty smells no matter how long you leave them in your kit bag.

CCC Baselayer COLD - Keeps you warm and up to speed no matter how cold it gets!

The CCC Baselayer COLD range maintains all of the benefits of the HOT fabric but the 65% nylon, 21% polyester, 14% Lycra fabric mix weighing 220gsm has an additional thermal layer designed for colder conditions (we recommend 10 degrees C and below) which results in a garment that keeps you warm but also prevents you overheating at peak performance levels.

Endorsements

CCC Baselayers feature the CCC logo on the front below the crew neck and on the sleeve. They have been worn by many top sportsmen including several rugby union sides and caught a lot of press coverage during the summer when several international cricketers including Shane Warne were seen wearing them during the 2005 Ashes series.
